Other Ferret Games

There are many types of games that can be played with a Ferret. Some just for fun, others even have competitions.

FERRET AGILITY TRIALS

These are the games you will see at the typical event called "Ferret Agility Trials" that clubs and shelters put on, many as an annual event.

CAN TIP

TUBE RUN

Ferrets LOVE Tunnels. Love Them. This makes watching a Ferret run through a Tunnel a spectators sport. Everyone having a great time, animals and people. You can not beat that.

DIGGING CONTEST

PAPER BAG ESCAPE

STRONGEST FERRET CONTEST - WEIGHT PULLING

Animals pulling weights to see how can pull the most is a VERY safe sport. The reason? Animals do not have an ego. When they can not pull it, if it is too heavy for them, they stop.

The Cart

The Weight

Pulling Harnesses

I have worked with and trained all sorts of animals since I was a kid of about 5 years old. I have passed the half century mark so I have a bit of experience. I used to race sled dogs, had dogs with weight pulling competition titles and have been a harness maker for over 20 years. I have trained dogs, goats, a pony, llamas and a donkey to drive. One thing is for sure, you need the proper equipment.

Proper equipment is well fitting, well padded, safe and checked each time before it is put onto the animal for the job intended.

I wish I had a nickle for each time I have heard "the (fill in species) pulls when I walk it so it can not be hurting it to pull weight without padding." This is not true. When your animal pulls on your leash it is a different angle then when it is pulling weight hooked to it's harness. When pulling on the leash you are holding the angle of the leash and or weight is felt differently on the animals chest. Also, when pulling on the leash being held, the animal is not being coaxed forward as it is when it is pulling a cart with weight.
